Which stroller fits your family?

Answer seven quick questions. We check every stroller against how you'll use it, how many kids ride, your baby's age, car seat plans, what you can lift and your budget — and tell you exactly why each one fits or doesn't.

1. Where will you use it most?
2. How many kids will ride?
3. How old is your baby when you start?
4. Infant car seat
5. Most you want to lift into the trunk
25 lb

Weight without a car seat. For reference, a gallon of water weighs about 8 lb.

6. Tallest person who will push it
7. Budget

Newborns need to lie flat

Babies who can't hold their head up should ride lying flat or nearly flat: in a bassinet, a seat that reclines fully, or an infant car seat clicked onto the stroller. Many lightweight strollers are only for babies from about 6 months unless you add a car seat.

Car seat compatibility

"Travel system" means the stroller comes with an infant car seat that clicks in. If you already own a car seat, check the brand: most strollers accept their own brand directly and others only with a separate adapter.

Jogging is a different job

Only run with a stroller its maker rates for jogging — usually three wheels with a front wheel that locks straight, a hand brake and a wrist strap. Most pediatricians and makers say to wait until about 6–8 months before jogging with a baby.
